What is Newham University Centre?

Newham University Centre (NUC) is the Higher Education Faculty of Newham College London.

NUC runs its degree programmes in collaboration with what are called partner universities.
Newham College’s main university partner is The Open University (OU). Newham College London has institutional approval from the OU which means that Newham College London is approved by The Open University as an appropriate organisation to offer higher education programmes leading to Open University validated awards. All the degree courses we run with the OU go through a process of programme validation. This means that the programme, which has been developed and will be delivered by Newham College London, has been validated through a process of external peer review by The Open University as being of an appropriate standard and quality to lead to The Open University validated award. Newham College London also runs courses in collaboration with Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of East London.

Newham College London is one of the largest and most successful Further Education Colleges in the UK. In July 2009, after inspection by Ofsted, we were officially recognised as an “outstanding” college. This is the highest accolade that can be awarded to a college and only a very few colleges succeed in achieving it. Outstanding colleges have outstanding teachers, outstanding resources – and outstanding success rates. Newham College London was inspected by the QAA in 2010-11 who found confidence in the college’s higher education academic standards and learning opportunities and that reliance could be placed upon its public information.
