No previous experience of counselling is required to apply to this course. Applications from students with a wide variety of backgrounds are encouraged and supported.
IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU?
This is a practitioner-based course which allows you to develop your knowledge and skills and support you on your journey to becoming a professional counsellor. The course includes an extended supervised counselling placement.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
There are two different Counselling Studies pathways being offered:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
- Integrative Therapy (IT).
You select your pathway in the second part of level 4.
You learn about contemporary research into counselling from within your chosen pathway and about the many theories, models and methods used in counselling, and engage in personal development with training in interpersonal skills.
OPTIONS ON COMPLETION
This course is a major step towards you becoming a professional counsellor or sychotherapist as it is designed to meet the professional registration requirements. Please note that you will need to complete additional supervised counselling hours to gain accreditation.
You will develop specialist people and communication skills during this course which can open up other career opportunities where the ability to interact effectively and professionally with others is highly valued. You will also be able to apply for postgraduate study and professional training in counselling and related fields.
