Learning resources
The Flex
The Flex service offers an integrated learning environment that comprises IT resources, study areas (general, group and silent), audio-visual facilities and printed materials. The centres located at East Ham and Stratford campuses operate on a drop-in basis for 93 service hours per week. A wide range of resources is available in various formats e.g. books, magazines, audio- visual materials including DVDs and audio CDs, online services and the internet. E-resources are also available including e-books and 8318 abstracted and indexed journals and 4542 full text journals. The computerised catalogue can be used to check resource location and availability. The Flex also operates a British Library loan service. Specialist equipment and software to support disability is in place including a CCTV image enhancer, adjustable table, Texthelp Read and Write Gold, JAWS and Supernova. Wheelchair access and low level shelving are in place.
VLE
NewLearning, hosted by Moodle, is the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that is used at NUC to support teaching and learning by providing course content, assessment, information, and personal development planning (with our Student Learning Advisors).
Prometheum Whiteboards
All teaching rooms are equipped with interactive Prometheum Whiteboards enabling lecturers to deliver material in student-friendly ways and access electronic resources.
Counselling and coaching suite
Students taking counselling and coaching courses have access to our fully equipped counselling and coaching rooms, where they can carry out, observe and record counselling and coaching sessions.
Laboratories and observation room
Research and computer laboratories with research software and a fully equipped observation room are available.
