International Students
If you are an international student, please apply through UCAS.
Please remember to:
- Apply for a course that is available to international students – this only includes full time courses ranging from Level 4 onwards.
- Include copies of your examination certificates and any other documents that may be required in support of your application.
- Complete the personal statement on the form to tell us why you want to enrol on your chosen course and why you want to study in the UK at Newham University Centre.
What happens next?
If you have met all the necessary entry requirements, we will offer you a place on your chosen course. In cases where this is not possible we will do our best to offer you an alternative place on another course. You will then receive an offer through UCAS. If you choose to accept your offer, you will then be sent a list of additional evidence that you will need to provide, details of which are listed below.
Requirements the student needs to meet:
• Apply for the course at least 90 days prior to the course start date
• Provide proof of qualification
• Score a Band 6 in an IELTS Exam; alternatively 78 or above in TOEFL
• Provide proof of ID
• Provide a copy of the crest and photographic page of the passport
• Provide a recent photograph
• Provide a residential proof
• Provide bank statements for the last three months
If the student has a sponsor they must provide:
• Provide proof of ID
• Provide residential proof
• Provide their bank statements for the last three months
• Evidence that they are earning potentially £800 per calendar month
• Evidence of payslips
Once you have met all the criteria and all documents have been provided and approved we will apply for a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) Number. This will be needed to assist the VISA application process. A fee of £500 is required which is non-refundable. This process may take up to two months. Once this has been approved we can then issue a Visa Letter upon payment of half of the course fees. When the Visa is confirmed and the remaining tuition fees are paid you can enrol onto the course.
For students that don’t require a VISA Letter 100% of the fee must be paid before enrolling onto the course.
Please ensure that you have applied for a Visa in time to start your course – you should allow a minimum of 3 months for this entire process.
Getting a Visa
To study in the UK you will need to apply for a Student Visa from the British Embassy or British High Commission in your country. Please do this as soon as possible as your place may not be held for you if you are unable to make the start date. The Letter of Acceptance will help you to obtain your Visa. Information on Visas and studying in the UK is available from the following websites:
British Council (www.educationuk.org)
Foreign Office (www.fco.gov.uk)
You can check your status (i.e. whether you need a visa) and obtain the necessary forms from both of these sites.
Please note that the College may be required to release information about your application and attendance at the College to the Home Office or relevant British Government agency if required.
