Payment, Grants & Loans - Newham University Centre

Payment, Grants & Loans

Home/EU Students

All Home/EU students should visit www.direct.gov.uk to find out about eligibility and to apply for grants and loans for tuition and living costs. This website includes an on-line calculator to find likely amounts, and contact details for further information for Student Finance England.

Students are advised to apply for finance as soon as they decide to apply for higher education – do not wait until a place has been offered. Students can switch their funding from one course or institution to another by completing a change of circumstances form available on the website. Newham College does not offer individual bursaries. Students can also apply for career development loans.

International Students

Full payment of the fee (one year of study for full time students, two for part time) is due when your place is accepted. Please pay in sterling by any of:

  • Bank-to-bank transfer (details are outlined within the application form)
  • Cash
  • Personal cheque
  • Credit or debit card – payable to our financial services department on 00 44 (0) 20 8257 4350
  • International bank draft – payable to Newham College London

Refunds

Refunds will only be made to the original payee. The College does not refund any fees paid by international students, except in the following circumstances:

  • Where a student has been refused a visa to enter the UK and can therefore not attend the course their fees will be refunded. The refund will only be processed once evidence has been provided that the visa has been refused or cancelled. An administration fee of £100 will apply.
  • Tuition fees may be transferred to another educational institution if documentary evidence is provided confirming that the student is attending a full-time course at the stated Institution. There will be an administration fee of 10% of the total fee paid.
  • In the event that the student never entered the country and a third party is the original payer, evidence of this must be provided.
  • A written statement and request must be provided if an overseas student withdraws from the course for any reason other than those stated above, before the start of the course. Each request will be assessed on an individual basis, and the College reserves the right to refuse. If the application is successful, the administration fee incurred will be 10% of the total fee paid.
