Director's Welcome
Newham University Centre is part of Newham College London, one of the very few officially “outstanding” colleges in London. We have a radically different approach to higher education. We don’t offer a huge range of courses but concentrate on those that we have the experience and skills to teach really well. With small class sizes and a very high standard of student support, our students have the very best opportunities to succeed – and they do!
We give as many people as possible the opportunity to benefit from higher education. Many of our students do not have conventional educational backgrounds; others cannot study at conventional times. But we are not a conventional college. We recognise that everyone is an individual, with individual needs, individual circumstances, individual hopes and ambitions. We offer flexible course structures to suit individual lifestyles and circumstances and we welcome and encourage applications from students of all ages, whatever their educational background.
Our well qualified staff, like our students, come from a wide range of backgrounds, and the knowledge and experience they gained outside the college enriches and strengthens their teaching. We are a college of enormous diversity set in a very diverse local community. This diversity helps to make NUC a very exciting, stimulating and vibrant place to study - and socialise.
